Greetings dear Wayfarer!
This Wayfarers guide is your resource to find sanctuary within the formidable walls of Estonian Churches, the majority of which are many hundreds of years old. With great pride our ancestors built testaments of faith, massive stonewalled holy sanctuaries which protected our faith against marauding enemies. An abundant artistic heritage, the witness of countless masters of art have been painstakingly preserved, a wealth of paintings and sculptures used to this day to educate the Christian faith. Truly unique organs built under sacral archways resound uplifting human hearts with rich sounds and melodies.
Sanctuaries are open for prayer, church services and other scaral ceremonies. Christ’s call, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden” has drawn people to enter in. Pausing, pondering the fleeting nature of our precious time amidst expressions of eternal values to help comprehend answers to our questions, from whence do I come and where will I go?
Please use this booklet to plan your pilgrimmage. Come and discover the beauty our land and churches! Welcome !
