Built: XV–XX

The biggest country church in South Estonia. The new pseudo-gothic design dates from 1874, the new tall tower from 1937 (architect Arnold Matteus). The church was a ruin for 45 years after the war. Now beautifully rebuilt and reconsecrated, it has had an important role in Estonian cultural history. An oak next to the church was planted by the crown prince of Sweden in 1932.
